version 6.03
Following on from the successful Version 6 (August
2005), comes an interim release of Benchmark Estimating Software Version 6.03. Version 6.03 includes even more new features and improvements
that have been suggested by both our current users and by the
Benchmark team. These improvements include:
1.
Resource Production
Rates
2. Cost Codes Export to
Excel
3. Improvements to the Follow Up feature

Resource Production
Rates |
| |
What they do:
Resource Production
Rates are considered by Benchmark director, Rob MacDonald, to be
"one of the biggest pure estimating additions to
Benchmark Estimating Software in recent years". They allow
a production rate to be assigned to any group of
resources within an item. This means
that when you alter this resource production rate, all the
resources that are associated with this rate (within the Item) will
be automatically updated for you!
In many cases, there will be more than one production rate
for different groups of resources within a single Item, so
Benchmark allows multiple resource production rates to be
entered for any item, as you can see below.

Benefits:
> extremely easy alteration of production rates,
> chances of error are greatly reduced as less human
involvement is required,
> provides versatility and accuracy, you can assign
multiple rates for the single Item.

Cost Codes Export to
Excel |
|
|
What they do:
Cost Codes are widely
used to allow integration between the estimating and the
accounting business functions. Benchmark now facilitates
the exporting of Cost Codes to Microsoft Excel, which provides
users with more flexible integration with their other business
systems.
The Cost Code feature in Benchmark is very flexible; they can be
set up in your libraries, or they can be assigned on a project
by project basis. The one Cost Code can be assigned to an
entire Section of a Project, a single Item or group of Items
within a project, or at the Resource level of a project.
This gives you ultimate flexibility to suit your business
practices.

Benefits:
> save time interfacing with other business systems, such
as job costing and accounting,
> there is less chance of budgeting errors,
> therefore more accurate estimating and maximum
profits.

Follow Up |
|
What they do:
The Follow Up function
in Benchmark allows users to set follow-up dates for either
their clients or the estimates in their system. These help
users track down and close more opportunities as they arise, and
act as reminders to pursue leads in a timely and therefore more
effective manner.
|
| |
Benefits:
The Follow Up feature has undergone some changes that are
aimed at making it more user friendly. Follow Up totals,
totals by Region, and Disable Daily Follow Up are
some of the changes aimed at improving this Benchmark feature.
