Interim Release - Version 6.05.60

Benchmark have been sourcing the needs of our users and finding ways to provide the benefits they require.  Version 6.05.60 represents Benchmark’s continued commitment to keeping our clients at the edge of estimating excellence, and includes features such as:

NEW Resource Group Totals (right) –
This gives you the ability to add another level of subtotals at the Resource level in a Project.  It helps to further structure your estimates for transparency and for clearer reports.

NEW Export to Excel® for job costing –
A new "Resources by Item with Used and Remaining" Export to Excel® has been added.  This includes columns where you can enter the ‘Used’ quantity for each Resource within an Item.  Benchmark calculates the Remaining quantity and also calculates your Actual profit per Item and for the Project, as compared to your estimated profit.

NEW Mandatory Fields feature –
You can now choose to specify mandatory fields that must be completed before you can 'Complete' your Project and to capture data for your marketing analysis.  This is a great tool for organisations who wish to capture data that will facilitate more accurate and beneficial management reporting.

14 NEW Reports –
These include new Marketing/Management reports and reports for your Estimators, Senior Estimators and field staff.

   •  Sample Report PDF - Items by Group by Cost This report is good for a Senior Estimator to
review what has been allowed for in the estimate and to see which Items are the highest in cost.

   •  Some of the new Management report options available (below) These provide excellent data to facilitate
      better business decisions by management.

NEW ‘Show Calculations in Lists’ option (right) –
You can now choose to view your Item and Resource calculations in a new ‘Calculation’ column.  This makes reviewing your estimates faster and easier as you can see how your  quantities have been calculated.

Column widths remembered by Estimator –
You can adjust column widths in many screens, and these widths are now remembered by Estimator.

Faster operation of the Spread screen
There have been changes to when the Spread screen will perform its calculations to increase the speed of using both the Spread screen and Benchmark.

Feature Focus - Cartage

What is Cartage?

Estimators typically allow for cartage in an estimate when it costs money to transport material resources to the job site.

Cartage is often calculated as a rate per unit per unit, for instance $0.30 per tonne per kilometre.  Cartage will sometimes include a ‘Flag Fall’, which is an additional cost per tonne irrespective of distance travelled.  You can also nominate a ‘Distance Included’ which is a distance of travel that only has the Flag Fall cost applied.

How to use Benchmark’s Cartage feature:

In Benchmark’s Resource Library you can create a Cartage Resource and specify a Flag Fall and Distance Included.

When these Cartage Resources are used in a project all you have to do is enter the cartage distance, either:
· At the Project level where every Cartage Resource in the entire Project is carted the same distance
· At the Section level where every Cartage Resource in that Section is carted the same distance
· At the Item Level where every Cartage Resource in that Item is carted the same distance, or
· For each individual Cartage Resource where the Cartage Resources within the same Item need to be carted different distances to the job site

After you have entered the cartage distance, Benchmark will automatically calculate the cost of cartage for you!
See the screen shot opposite for an example.
