Benchmark reaches 1,000 licenses sales

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Benchmark Estimating Software has now sold 1,000 software licenses. Just over a decade ago I recall celebrating the milestone of selling our 20th license; to think how far we have come since then is truly satisfying and a little bit mind-boggling.

I have taken this opportunity to reflect on other key achievements; we have now trained thousands of users, sold the software to over 170 organisations in 7 different countries and across 18 industries, and opened additional offices around the country and across the globe.

What is even more satisfying than reaching the 1,000 license milestone is the fact that our users continue to report great benefit from the software. As a Director of engineering firm MacDonald International, I witness firsthand the incredible competitive advantage provided by Benchmark on a daily basis.

Our 1,000 licensee is the Highways Agency in England, which highlights another great achievement for Benchmark. The Highways Agency recently chose Benchmark Estimating Software as their new estimating system. Responsible for the construction and stewardship of the £80Billion road network in England, the Agency selected Benchmark because of its simplicity, its unique libraries which contain and share intelligence, and for its excellent consulting and support services.

We began with a strong focus on making estimating easier for civil contractors and Government organisations. We have certainly achieved this aim with hundreds of users in these industries continuing to achieve better estimating.

Over time we have gradually expanded into industries such as asphalt and landscaping to simplify estimating for a wider range of businesses. It is safe to say that at least 85% (if not more) of the major asphalt tenders in Australia are now estimated using Benchmark.

We continue to increase our market share in other Countries; many Contractors in New Zealand find Benchmark fits their business perfectly, and the Benchmark brand is going from strength to strength in the United Kingdom.

Arriving at 1,000 licenses gives us reason to reflect on the wonderful journey we have taken together. On reflection, it becomes apparent that our aim to keep you at the edge of estimating excellence has allowed us to come this far, and hence this remains our central focus for the future.

Yours, in the interest of better estimating,

Rob MacDonald
Director.
