What is a
production rate?
Put simply a
production rate is: How much work you can complete per unit of
time. For instance if you are laying Base Course, you need to
know how quickly you can lay it so you can determine how long
you will spend on this task. You may be able to lay 125 square
metres of Base Course for every hour you work. If you have an
easy job you may be able to do 140m2 per hour.
Conversely, on a hard job you may only allow for 110m2
per hour. |

Benchmark's Resource
Production Rates

The Production Rate feature in Benchmark: In Benchmark the
Production Rate feature allows you to assign your production
rates to:
|
1- |
groups
of Resources within one Item; this is ideal for
complicated Items that contain several sub-tasks, or |
|
2- |
an Item
itself; this is ideal for less complex items
|
If you need to
alter any of your Production Rates, simply enter a new rate and
Benchmark will ask you if you want to update the Resource
quantities to reflect this change. Selecting ‘Yes’ will
automatically update all of the time-based Resources and adjust
your entire estimate accordingly.
Production rates and the skills shortage: Your
Production Rates can be assigned to Items, or to Resources
within an Item, and saved in your Item Library. In these
instances you are capturing knowledge on how quickly your
business does its work. When you add these Items to your
projects all of the Production Rates you have established will
automatically come into your estimate. This saves you time and
ensures the knowledge of your experienced staff can permeate
through your business to help you soothe the effects of the
skills shortage.
The Production Rate feature in Benchmark is a very useful
estimating tool designed to ensure accuracy in your estimates,
to save time and to eliminate human error as Benchmark does the
calculations for you. |
